LEGISLATION

The Hygiene package, constituted by regulations (EC) 852,853/2004, 625/2017 and by directive 2002/99, supplies the guidelines in terms of food safety. The norm forces every operator of the food sector to apply the HACCP control system.

The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is an hygienic self-control system. The aim of HACCP is to ensure food safety in all phases of the food chain.

The vessel represents an environment for storage, manipulation and serving of food, and is therefore subject to mentioned legislation.

LEGISLATION

Italian Decree 81/08 envisages the assessment of environmental risks on the workplace. Moreover and specifically for vessels, MLC2006 establishes such assessments must be performed.

OUR SERVICE

Our service includes a survey on board by our specialised technicians, equipped with sophisticated portable equipment, and with extended experience on board merchant vessels. During one single survey on board, we are able to asses a wide range of environmental agents such as:

VIBRATIONS RISK
If transmitted to the body, mechanical vibrations entail risks for workers’ health and safety, namely lumbago and rachis trauma. As it is well known, several working activities performed on board means of transport or means of handling, expose the body to vibrations and impacts, which can be harmful for the person exposed.
We perform full body and hand-arm measurements.

NOISE RISK
Noise can cause a series of damages to health. The most severe, most known and studied, is hypoacusia that is permanent hearing loss, of different entity. Possible effects on safety are not to be underestimated either: noise can determine a masking effect, which disturbs verbal communications and the perception of acoustic alarms, with possible increase of occupational injuries.
We perform noise measurements with environment meter and dosimetry on seafarers.

CHEMICAL RISK
Chemical risk in the working environment can be ascribed to the presence of dangerous chemical agents.
We perform personal measurements of volatile organic compounds and environmental measurements of gas. Also, safety sheets (MSDS) of the products present on board are analysed.

ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS
Measurements: We perform personal measurements on microclimate and electromagnetic fields in leisure and working environments
The final reports illustrate and analyse the performed measurements.
